Verification of Meeting Attendance

Verification of Meeting Attendance, or VMA, is a complimentary service provided by volunteer service members of the 319 AA Group.

Please Read Before Requesting Verification

319 AA Group is not affiliated with any court, probation department, treatment facility, employer, government agency, or outside organization.

Verification is the responsibility of the participant requesting it. Failure to follow the requirements may result in verification being denied or not received.

Need to Know

Click each button below to review the most important verification rules.

Stay on Camera and Remain Attentive

Participants requesting verification must remain visibly present and attentive for the entire meeting hour.

  • Remain on camera for the full hour.
  • Keep your full face clearly visible.
  • Use enough lighting for the co-host to see you.
  • Remain seated or otherwise visibly present.
  • Pay attention to the meeting.
  • Dress and behave appropriately.
  • Do not work, drive, sleep, cook, clean, exercise, watch television, or perform unrelated activities.

You are not required to speak or share, but you must visibly demonstrate that you are attending the meeting.

Simply logging into the Zoom room is not proof of attendance.

Send Your Complete Information

Within 10 minutes of the top of the hour, privately message the designated verification co-host with:

  • Your name exactly as you want it to appear.
  • Your correct email address.
  • The meeting time.
  • Your time zone.
Example:
Bill W.
billw06101935@mail.com
4:00 PM Central Time

Check your information carefully. If your email address is incorrect, your verification may not be delivered.

Because 319 is an international meeting, your time zone is required.

Submit Your Information Every Hour

Verification is issued for one meeting hour at a time.

When attending consecutive meetings, send your name, email address, meeting time, and time zone again at the beginning of every hour.

This applies even when:

  • The same co-host remains assigned.
  • Your information has not changed.
  • You were verified during the previous hour.
  • You plan to remain in the meeting room for several hours.

A new hour requires a new verification request.

Allow 24–72 Hours

Verifications are generally emailed within 24–72 hours.

Before contacting the attendance team, check:

  • Your inbox.
  • Spam and junk mail.
  • Promotions.
  • Trash.
  • Quarantine folders.
  • Email filters and blocked sender settings.

Search your entire mailbox for 319verify@gmail.com, “319,” “Verification,” or “Meeting Attendance.”

Please allow the full 72 hours before contacting us.

Plan Ahead for Deadlines

Do not wait until the last minute to attend meetings or collect verification.

Plan as though verification will take the full 72 hours. Allow additional time to provide it to your probation officer, court, treatment provider, employer, or other outside party.

319 cannot guarantee that verification will be processed in time for a deadline created by an outside organization.

We Are Unpaid Volunteers

VMA is a complimentary service operated by unpaid volunteer service members.

Only two volunteers currently process the majority of our verification emails, and they receive hundreds of requests each week.

Our volunteers also have jobs, families, appointments, health needs, recovery responsibilities, and lives outside of 319.

We make every reasonable effort to process requests accurately and promptly, but immediate processing is not always possible.

Please be patient and respectful.

How to Request Verification

Verification is only available when a trained verification co-host is available. Due to volunteer availability, verification may not be offered during every meeting hour.

A request must be submitted by the designated verification co-host. Requests emailed directly to the processing team are not accepted as proof that you attended a meeting.

Within 10 Minutes of the Top of the Hour

Privately message the verification co-host with:

  • Your name exactly as you want it to appear.
  • Your correct email address.
  • The meeting time.
  • Your time zone.
Example:
Bill W.
billw06101935@mail.com
4:00 PM Central Time
Check your information carefully. If your email address is incorrect, your verification may be sent to the wrong address or may not be delivered.

Attendance Requirements

  • Remain on camera for the full meeting hour.
  • Keep your full face clearly visible.
  • Remain attentive to the meeting.
  • Do not engage in unrelated activities.
  • Remain until the meeting hour is complete.
  • Dress and behave appropriately.

Speaking is not required, but visible and attentive participation is required.

Simply logging into the Zoom room is not proof of attendance.

Brief Breaks

Privately message the verification co-host before leaving and again when you return. Unexplained or extended absences may result in denial.

Meetings Last a Full Hour

Participants requesting verification should plan to remain until the entire meeting hour is complete. Leaving early may result in denial.

Missing Verification

Do not contact the attendance team until at least 72 hours have passed and you have checked all of your email folders.

Verification records are generally stored for approximately two weeks. Lookup requests must be submitted within two weeks of the meeting date.

Email the Attendance Team

Include:

  • Your name as originally submitted.
  • The email address you provided.
  • The meeting date.
  • The meeting time.
  • Your time zone.
  • The verification co-host’s name.

Please allow up to one week for a response to lookup requests, questions, or concerns.

Courts, Probation Officers and Outside Organizations

Verification is emailed to the participant.

We do not routinely send duplicate copies directly to probation officers, courts, attorneys, treatment programs, employers, schools, family members, or other outside parties.

It is your responsibility to save, organize, and provide your verification to the appropriate party.

Do not wait until the last minute. Plan as though processing will take the full 72 hours.
